Lorenzo Ma'afu was graded from the East Hills club at the start of the 2007 season as second row forward playing in the Flegg Cup team.

He became a regular member of the Flegg Cup team and in 2008, Lorenzo commenced the season in NSW Cup before receiving the opportunity to play in the NRL when Sonny Bill Williams withdrew from the match after playing for New Zealand a day earlier.
