Tupou played his junior rugby league for the Berala Bears and Guildford Owls before being signed by the Parramatta Eels. Tupou played for the Eels' NYC team in 2010 and 2011, scoring 9 tries in 22 games, before being signed by the Sydney Roosters.

He has accomplished a great deal in his career already, including two Premierships in 2013 and 2018, an Origin series win with the Blues in 2014, a stint with the Kangaroos and a starting spot in Tonga's line-up for the Rugby League World Cup as well as two test matches in 2018.
